Community Hubs (COVID-19)

Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh

Your wellbeing is important to us and we want to ensure that you are safe and well. There are many people in our community who don't have anyone to turn to for support, and so we have set up a network of three community hubs to support vulnerable residents during this challenging time.

The role these community hubs play is vital following the government announcement on Sunday (22 March 2020) that food and other essential items need to be delivered to those with particular health conditions who have been told to self-isolate for 12 weeks.

Local people and community groups have rallied around to help.  These hubs, funded by Folkestone & Hythe District Council, are working with voluntary organisations to ensure that community help is delivered to those who it most.

Who is running the Community Hubs?

All three Community Hubs are being supported by Folkestone & Hythe District Council staff and resources.

  • Folkestone Community Hub is being run by the Three Hills Sports Park supported by Citizens Advice and Kent Coast Volunteering
  • Hythe Community Hub is being run by Age UK Hythe & Lyminge
  • Romney Marsh Community Hub is being run by the Romney Marsh Day Centre

What support do the Community Hubs offer?

No one should feel as though they are alone during this challenging time.  Folkestone, Hythe & Romney Marsh are pulling together and your community is here to help to:

  • Provide food for those not able to get or prepare it themselves
  • Assist with the collection and delivery of food orders
  • Collect and deliver medical supplies
  • Walk dogs and other pets
  • Offer someone to talk to for advice and reassurance

Assistance is not limited to the above - we will try and assist our vulnerable residents in any way we can.

How to contact the Community Hubs

Anyone who cannot go out (whether self-isolating, immobile or unwell) and who does not have support networks (friends, family, neighbours) to do this for them should contact the Community Hub in their area.

Please do not contact the Community Hubs unless you are in genuine need of assistance. These hubs will be the only source of support for many of our residents and if people use them who do not need them, they are diverting help away from those most in need.
