Ward budget scheme

Each of the 30 Councillors are allocated a 'ward budget' of up to £3,000 to spend on community projects in their ward

The Member Ward Budget scheme is now  closed. It will reopen after the May Elections. 

Before you start

  • download the word or pdf document to enable you to complete the application 
  • read the terms and conditions which are attached to the application 
  • have all the project information including any evidence for each cost 
  • have bank account details 

What happens next 

  • email the completed application and approval form to your Ward Member (not sure who this is? Find out here
  • your Ward Member will review the application and decide how much they wish to allocate to the project and forward it to a Council Officer for them to check that it complies with the terms and conditions of the scheme
  • a Decision Notice will be emailed to the Ward Member for them to forward to you as confirmation of the outcome. 

Eligible groups

Community organisations that are located in the district, or have a strong connection with the area, can apply for the ward budget. These include:

  • town and parish councils with a community tax of less than £21,000 a year
  • community interest companies
  • charitable incorporated organisations 
  • registered charities
  • community and voluntary groups with an appropriate governing document (see guidance notes from GOV.UK)
  • schools and other organisations working for the benefit of the local community  

Community groups can contact their ward councillor to apply for this funding.
