Projects to have benefitted from our ward budget scheme

Each of your 30 councillors has a 'ward budget' of up to £3,000 to help community projects. Here is a list of what has been spent so far in 2021/22. This page was last updated on 13 April 2022.

Cllr Ann Berry (Broadmead)

Strange Cargo - £300 (August 2021): To support the Charivari Day event for 2021, involving schools and the wider public, and bringing many visitors to the town.

Turner Schools - £300 (September 2021): To provide diversity and inclusion workshops as part of a focused week of activities.

Folkestone Sports Centre Trust - £400 (February 2022): To fund equipment for new walking netball sessions that will be starting up.

Our Lady and St Joseph - £2000 (March 2022): To purchase the long overdue refurbishment of the carpet in the community building.

Our Lady and St Joseph - £500 (February 2022): To purchase the long overdue refurbishment of the carpet in the community building.

Bayle Residents - £1000 (April 2022): To support  a street party on the historical Bayle with food, bunting and entertainment.

Bayle Residents - £1275 (April 2022):  Will fund for flowers, plants and a new trough for the Parade steps as part of The Bayle in Bloom.

Royal British Legion - £225 (April 2022): Will go towards raising funds to purchase and plant trees in the grounds of All Souls Church, Cheriton to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022. 

Cllr Susan Carey (North Downs West)

Stelling Minnis Parish Council - £300 (July 2021): To purchase and install a 6m village hall community flagpole - something that hasn't previously existed before in this location.

Stowting CEP School - £500 (October 2021): To provide improvements to the play area and sports facilities and to help the children enjoy physical activity year round.

Sellindge Lawn Tennis Club - £500 (October 2021): To provide funding for the resurfacing of court surfaces and continue to enable local residents to keep fit and maintain positive mental wellbeing.

Lyminge Primary School - £250 (January 2022): To fund the purchase of a storage shed and equipment to develop the forest school and environmental areas of school. It will also assist the mental wellbeing and learning for children.

Postling Parish Council - £300 (February 2022): To restore and preserve the listed phone kiosk in Postling village.

Sellindge War Memorial - £500 (February 2022): To help fund the enhancement of the facilities of the Village Hall Kitchen which is used by numerous organisations within the Village and surrounding area.

Sellindge & District Playing Fields Benevolent Society - £350 (March 2022): To purchase and fully install a 6m village community flagpole which will be raised on special occasions.

Cllr John Collier (Cheriton)

1st Cheriton Scout Group - £500 (June 2021): To provide the scout hut with new cladding, replacement facia and guttering, and a new secure main door to the main entrance.

Strange Cargo - £1000 (February 2022): Will help support the development of a series of bronze artworks made by artists and the Cheriton community to be permanently placed at Folkestone West Station.

Oddfellows Club - £500 (February 2022): To fund the provision of an external defibrillator for the benefit of Cheriton residents and visitors.

1st Cheriton Scouts Group - £200 (February 2022): To provide new cladding to the entire building, replacement facia and guttering and a new secure door to the main entrance.

All Souls Church - £300 (February 2022): Will fund the repairs from damage caused to the Community Hall roof space and fund pest control and securing  of the roof space.

Royal British Legion - £500 (February 2022): Will go towards raising funds to purchase and plant trees in the grounds of All Souls Church, Cheriton to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022.

Folkestone Performing Arts Centre - £100 (August 2021): To support the aims of the summer school project (plastic on our beaches and in our seas) and provide young people with a wider knowledge of environmental issues.

Pavement Pounders - £100 (August 2021): To support the aims of the Voicing The Past project and recognise the importance of local history.

Cybersaur Arts - £200 (September 2021): To support the aims of the Gateway to Our Past project which will explore Folkestone's local history as told by young people using a variety of different art forms, including digital, visual, and auditory storytelling techniques.

Bayle Residents Association - £250 (September 2021): To provide funding for equipment and resources related to community fund raising fete.

The Shorncliffe Trust - £200 (January 2022): Will fund the printing of a booklet that will raise awareness of the districts Military history and a new legacy archive that has been donated to the Shorncliffe Trust.

Sunflower House - £300 (February 2022): Will go towards a series of Friday drop in sessions and informal advice surgeries, where members of the local community can socialise and also access first stop advice on how to address issues of concern to them.

Folkestone Festivals - £500 (February 2022): To help fund a free and fun family weekend during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Shepway Spectrum Arts - £500 (February 2022): To fund disability and safety adaptions at the centre including an accessible toilet, stair lift, ramp access for wheelchair users, new secure fence, gates and path for access to the garden.

Strange Cargo - £100 (February 2022): The grant will be spent on purchase of materials to make carnival costumes with children and young people from across the district for this year's Charivari Day. 

Older Women Rock! - £100 (February 2022): The grant will pay for women DJs to perform at the International Women's Day 2022 disco. 

South Mind Kent - £245 (March 2022): To fund an initiative to assist with cooking on a budget, underpinned with mental health support, particularly how food can affect mood.

Compas Charity - £405 (March 2022): The grant will be spent on refreshments, Roma band, decoration and other costs associated with volunteers and participants for International Roma Day.

Cllr Ray Field (Folkestone Harbour)

White Cliffs Countryside Partnership - £2500 (March 2022): To support informal engagement activities at the Folkestone Warren that will provide visitors with the opportunity to discover more about the internationally important Nature Reserve.

Harbour Ward Community Garden CIC - £500 (March 2022): To fund the replacement of raised beds in the community garden. 

Cllr Gary Fuller (Sandgate and West Folkestone)

2nd Sandgate Scout Group - £300 (December 2021): To provide better facilities for young people to get them out and about in the open air and support their mental and physical health.

Sandgate Society - £1247.50 (December 2021): To fund the installing a ramp from Castle Road Car Park in Sandgate to the beach promenade to enable wheelchair users and cyclists to access the seafront from the car park.

CARM - £500 (November 2021): To go towards a Christmas dinner for Lydd Meeting Point members and helpers.

Ivychurch Amenities Association - £750 (March 2022): Will fund a fence between the designated Ivychurch Community Woodland area boundary and the farmer's arable crop.

Lydd Club Day - £500 (February 2022): To fund Lydd Club Day and the Croydon Steel Orchestra which is made up of young people in the area.

FYP Youth Charity - £900 (July 2021): To continue the hiring of Hawkinge Community Centre and, subsequently, the running of the Bank Youth Club.

St Nicholas - £500 (November 2021): To fund repainting inside of the church which will help maintain it's good condition for the future benefit of the community.

Battle of Britain Museum - £1298 (March 2022): To support the Spirit of The Few Memorial for viewing by visitors to the museum. 

Hawkinge Village Hall - £302 (February 2022):  To fund for pots, pans and kitchen utensils for permanent use in the Hawkinge Village Hall kitchen which will facilitate catering for the various fund raising activities that take place at the village hall.

Cllr Tony Hills (Walland and Denge Marsh)

Romney Marsh Community Hub - £500 (September 2021):  To support the work of the hub which benefits residents by supplying hot meals.

Brookland Parish Council - £340 (December 2021): To fund a new dual purpose waste bin to hold litter and dog waste both hygienically and securely behind a lid/flap.

JAM - £500 (February 2022): To support the weekly after school singing in Marsh schools, culminating in a vibrant free concert to families/friends/teachers in Jam-on-the-Marsh in July at St Nicholas Church, New Romney.

Ivychurch Amenities Association - £1000 (February 2022): Funding will help create a community woodland and contribute to the 'Queens Green Canopy' as well as a long lasting community amenity.

All Saints Church, Lydd - £340 (March 2022): To fund the replacement of the current waste bin which is no longer fit for purpose. 

Romney Marsh Community Hub - £320 (March 2022): To purchase the replacement of a broken refrigerator.

Folkestone Youth Project - £2400 (March 2022): To fund renovation work to the existing workshop onsite which is currently not fit for purpose, thus allowing young people to have a dedicated space for activities such as upcycling furniture, DIY and other woodwork projects.

Folkestone Festivals - £200 (March 2022): To provide entertainment for families which will run alongside the Folkestone Air Display 2022 event. 

Cllr Terence Mullard (Romney Marsh)

Burmarsh Church Hall - £480 (October 2021): To provide funding of the removal of two large trees at the back of the hall so that renovation/demolition of the hall can begin.

Dymchurch Players - £750 (October 2021): To provide funding for refreshed costumes for junior members for wear when performing pantomime.

Dymchurch Village Hall - £800 (November 2021): To go towards the refurbishment of the disabled toilet.

St Peter & St Pauls Church - £400 (January 2022): The grant will be used to purchase and install 5 new noticeboards inside the church.

Day of Syn Dymchurch - £300 (February 2022): To help support the annual event which brings entertainment and displays at the Dymchurch Recreational ground and beach. 

Friends of Dymchurch - Friends Of Dymchurch Recreation Ground - £270 (February 2022): To help with the cost of community consultation for redevelopment plans for the Pavilion.

Strange Cargo - £250 (September 2021): To help support the graphic design work required for Everywhere Means Something to Someone, a people's guidebook to the Romney Marsh.

1st New Romney Scout Group - £273.82 (December 2021): Funding will enable the Explorer Young Leader Section to carry out training activities and to also to help train young members within the group attain their First Aid skills and expedition night hikes with map reading and compass bearing skills.

Romney Resource Centre - £500 (December 2021): The funding will facilitate redecoration, soft furnishing and calming art work to create a safe space for young people to feel able to open up.

New Romney Country Fayre - £250 (January 2022): Will contribute to the cost of first aid provisions for the upcoming event.

Friends of Lympne School - £417.56 (December 2021): To provide chairs, beanbags, lights, blinds and a rug for a Sensory Room to benefit pupils at Lympne School.

Saltwood Lads Club - £580 (December 2021): To provide soft landscaping to the rear of the Lads' Club and purchase & planting of two trees - to benefit the local community and wildlife.

Hythe Books For Change - £500 (June 2021): To donate picture books for local voluntary playgroups, nurseries and women's refuges that are inclusive and present positive images of diversity.

Bread & Goose CIC - £274.63 (June 2021): To construct and install public artwork and participatory walking events to encourage constructive conversation about sea level rise.

Hythe Civic Society - £150 (July 2021): To fund the printing and laminating of posters about historic buildings of Hythe that will be displayed publicly during the Heritage Hythe project week

Hythe Town Concert Band - £500 (September 2021): To help fund a replacement roof for Hythe Town Concert Band's hut, used to store equipment.

Hythe Triangle - £300 (November 2021): To fund repairs and partial rebuild of the Grade II listed wall which forms the boundary of the Hythe Triangle Community Garden.

The Folkestone Hub CIC - £561 (December 2021): To fund the setup of a wellbeing centre, that provides a space to run sessions like Cuppa and Craft for the local community.

The Shorncliffe Trust - £214 (February 2022): Will fund the printing of a booklet that will raise awareness of the districts Military history and a new legacy archive that has been donated to the Shorncliffe Trust.

New Romney In Bloom - £1000 (January 2022): Will help purchase, install and plant up (compost/plants/feed) planters. 

Teach Me Courses - £1000 (January 2022): Funding will help encourage art and creativity to all ages and abilities in the community but in particular those who have learning difficulties or mental health issues to encourage wellbeing through creativity.

New Romney Country Fayre - £500 (January 2022): Contribution to the cost of programme printing for the upcoming community event. 

Romney Marsh Art Society - £500 (January 2022): The grant will be spent on new display screens to enable the annual art exhibition/festival to take place this year at the Marsh Academy.

The Lympne Playing Field and Village Hall - £750 (July 2021): To be spent on the new playground areas and zip line designed to replace existing play area, and to provide older children somewhere to play and gather.

Saltwood Lads Club - £280 (November 2021): To fund soft landscaping at the rear of the building which will include the planting of 2 new trees.

Lympne School - £750 (November 2021): To support renovation of the sensory room plus garden, as well as new sensory items, seating and plants to create calm areas for all children.

Seabrook C of E Primary School - £600 (February 2022): To fund the creation of a sensory garden and two flower/vegetable raised beds for the children at Seabrook Primary School.

South Kent Mind - £345.37 (February 2022): To support a community event which will promote good mental well-being along with partner charities that will tie in with the Queen's Jubilee celebrations weekend.
