Graffiti removal and path clearing project – graffiti removal and path clearing is a project in Folkestone Harbour Ward that is to be carried out by the Folkestone Town Sprucer scheme in response to requests from the community and the ward Councillor.

DECISION:

To provide funding of £500 to the above project.

Reason for decision:

Requests to remove graffiti are being received every week from residents and ward councillors. Graffiti has become more prevalent in the town  in recent months which causes the visual amenity of the town to be spoilt. There is also a causal link between graffiti and other types of antisocial behaviour. The appearance of graffiti drags an area down and encourages other street crimes such as drug dealing and prostitution. Tools are being purchased for clearing of pathways that have become overgrown.
