Purpose:

All Inclusion Improvisation Group

Shepway Spectrum Arts provides sessions of Improvisation using a wide selection of classical instruments combined with specialist electronic sound equipment and Ipad apps. We coordinate these sessions on Thursday mornings and Monday afternoons and have times of recording and mixing sounds. At present we have created 4 CD albums that have been created by members of Spectrum Arts with the help of our Musical director Ben Millbery and myself, but also including new volunteers with musical talent. We have a wide range of music recording that includes meditative music, spiritual music, weird and wonderful sounds and sound effects that help calming for people on the Autistic Spectrum. This is a well--focused project.

DECISION:

To provide funding of £500 to the above project.

Reason for decision:

Our numbers at Shepway Spectrum Arts have gradually increased over the past year to double the numbers in attendance. We have many who have severe autism and carers have expressed gratitude that they can comfortably bring their clients to our group accessing sessions either in the main hall or in the sensory room. We have a new talented volunteer who will promote small group music sessions in the sensory room also. There is no previous talent required for clients to join in our improvisation sessions and carers and clients have happily contributed to recording sessions being pleasantly surprised at the musical outcomes and impressed by the huge range of musical resources.
