Workshop facilitation and DJ fees - An eight day long programme of workshops, film, performance and exhibitions to celebrate International Women’s Day in Folkestone.

To provide funding of £500.00 to the above project.

Reason for decision:

Previous events in the town to mark International Women’s Day have seen an increase in audience figures year on year. Networks of women have been strengthened and continue to grow eg the Folkestone Women’s Forum arose out of a previous International Women’s Day workshop and regularly attracts audiences of between 30-40 women. The recently launched Red Box project to alleviate period poverty has seen a huge take-up from local secondary schools. And all of this is set against a nationwide picture of a gender pay gap, domestic violence and ongoing sexual harassment and objectification.
