Decision details

Folkestone & District Mind

Decision Maker: Ward Member for Hythe (1)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Hythe Mind Shop connection – The Mind shops for Folkestone & District Mind have been a fixture of the Hythe high street for some time now and as well as offering a wonderfully eclectic range of donated goods.  It also gives us a chance to employ local volunteers of all ages and wellbeing and an opportunity to speak to local people about the range of services that we offer to help them with their own mental health problems.

The biggest challenge we currently face is being able to connect the shops to our main resource centre, to promote our shops online and to be able to take card payments for goods and donations.

Decision:

To provide funding of £199.33 to the above project.

Reason for decision:

Presently there is no facility for communicating between the hubs and the main resource centre.  Shop goods are unable to be promoted online and cash is the only way payments can be made.  As more and more people are moving towards cashless transactions, this lack of technology is damaging the long term viability, employment and service offering.
