Kent Coast Volunteering

Decision Maker: Ward Member for Cheriton (2)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Kent Sheds – To meet a need to get people primarily into activities which would benefit both their physical and mental health.  Our main aim is to reduce social isolation and loneliness in the local community by bringing people together by providing useful activities in a non-judgemental environment that can welcome everybody whilst encouraging the growth of friendship and companionship with our members.

Decision:

To provide funding of £500 to the above project.

Reason for decision:

Currently the nearest shed to Cheriton is in Paddlesworth, in this respect people without transport encountered difficulty in visiting.   It is envisaged that the new shed in Cheriton would be open five days a week with our Nepalese community also having access as well as Age UK being welcome.  The area where we erect the shed will also be used by Headway to grow vegetables and include a paved area for Age UK to use during the warmer months.
