Invigorate Nepalese Culture - This initiative is to promote Nepalese culture through Cultural group within the Folkestone Nepalese community. The cultural performers require to dress in traditional costumes and ornaments.  At present the artists/performers are getting their traditional dresses and ornaments on their own expenses. This does not give flexibility to organisers when they require as the artists/performers would not be keen to come forward to commit their time and energy owing to own expenses. Therefore if fund was available to purchase necessary costumes and ornaments that would help greatly for both parties.

To provide funding of £1000 to the above project.

Reason for decision:

Folkestone Nepalese Community has a cultural group lead by a cultural secretary (within the committee) who organises cultural dances and performances in variety of events both within the community and in the wider community. i.e. Folkestone town Multi Cultural Shows, Sandgate family fun day, Sandgate Sea Festival, Folkestone Town Mayor’s Charity events etc. Within Nepalese community the cultural performances are of a must in Nepalese New Year celebration and Dashain

celebration as a main form of entertainment.
