Cheriton Christmas 2020 - To buy equipment to record interviews by the local schools, churches etc for the virtual events. Also to buy some decorations to be used year after year.

To provide funding of £650 to the above project.

Reason for decision:

The aim is to try and make Christmas 2020 special within the government guidelines for Covid-19. The community are used to having a Christmas light switch on event but sadly this year it must change from previous years events Schools, churches and local businesses will be invited to have a message recorded for the Cheriton

Christmas 2020 virtual Christmas celebrations. A designated area has been acquired to hold these socially distanced interviews following all Covid-19 guidelines. This will then be streamed via social media where everyone in the community can view and take part.

There will be Christmas decorations bought too for this event.

All of the above will be used year after year. We want to make the community smile and have something to look forward to, get involved in these unprecedented times.

In previous years of the “Cheriton Christmas Lights Switch On” has been attended

by 100’s of the local community and beyond. We are unable to provide the same this year so “Virtual” seems to be the safest way to go.
