Purchase of a utility car trailer for use by HECG for transporting “gleaned”
produce from farms back to local charities who feed disadvantaged people
and those in food poverty. The trailer will be made available as a community asset to other local community non-profit groups.
To provide funding of £552 to the above project.
Reason for decision:
The major clear need is to enable the HECG Gleaning operation to continue and grow. Current organisations who benefit from this initiative are:
Hythe/Lyminge Covid Hub/Age UK, Folkestone Age UK, Folkestone Salvation Army, Hythe Salvation Army, Kent Refugee Action Network, Folkestone Women’s Refuge, Chaucer Hospice, Tynwald Charity Care Home, Lydd/New Romney/Shepway Foodbanks, Home Farm Trust, Homestart Folkestone, Various organisations cooking for those in food poverty and 10 local schools who are providing foodbanks or food parcels for their in need families.
