Restoration works to the Leas Lift (including lift cars and track), alterations to the upper and lower lift stations, the construction of an extension to the lower lift station to provide a café and associated landscaping and infrastructure works.

The Principal Planning Officer advised Members that the applicant details should read “The Folkestone Leas Lift Company CIO” and not as CIC as stated in the report.

Installation of structural concrete and timber elements to conservation standard. Crack stitch repair across building. The demolition of the northern modern extension.

Resolved: That listed building consent be refused on the grounds that the demolition of the northern wing would result in harm to the character and appearance of the listed building and its wider historical setting  and to give delegated authority to the Chief Planning Officer to provide the appropriate wording.

Demolition of existing buildings, removal of soil business and areas of hardstanding and construction of 3 dwellings, together with gardens, parking and use of existing accesses to Brack Lane, reconfigured larger garden area and associated strategic landscaping and biodiversity enhancements.

 

The Development Management Team Leader provided updates that included corrections to the  existing and proposed floor spaces  and  that the extended  garden for the existing dwelling was also acceptable.   . He also informed that two additional letters from existing objectors had been received but the  issues raised were already covered within the Committee report.

 

George Staple, local resident spoke against the application.

David Wimble, spoke as a member of the public in support of the application.

Scott Balcombe, applicant spoke on the application.
