Town and parish councils, charities, schools and community groups are planning a range of events - from poppy planting and a WW1 music hall to a stage production and major centenary events.

Grants ranging from £100 to £10,000 were awarded by Folkestone & Hythe District Council which set up the WW1 Centenary Memorial Grant Fund in its 2018/19 budget.

We wanted to support activities and events that will provide an opportunity for the community to reflect on the impact of conflict and remember the sacrifice of those who lived, fought and died in the First World War. We were pleased to be able to support such a wide range of projects. We will follow their progress with interest and we wish them every success.
Cllr Jenny Hollingsbee, Cabinet Member for Communities
