Planning committee meetings

Planning applications that are more complex or controversial can be referred to our Planning and Licensing Committee. Also any district Councillor can ask for an application to be considered by the committee

When and where meetings are held

The committee usually meets once a month in the Council Council.

You can check the calendar for exact dates.

Meeting agenda

You can view the agenda and details of planning applications being considered five working days before the meeting.

Coming to meetings

Committee meetings are open to the public, subject to minimal seating availability. You don't need to register in advance unless you want to speak and have your views taken into account.

If you are not speaking at the meeting, we encourage you to stay at home and watch the meeting live at https://folkestone-hythe.public-i.tv/core/portal/home.

If you commented (known as 'making a representation') on a planning application we'll let you know if and when the application is going to be decided by the committee.

Speak at a meeting

If you want to speak at a meeting (PDF, 110KB)  you need to apply in writing in advance.

You will be sent a form when we notify you of the committee date. Please do not apply before then as, in the interests of fairness, we only accept requests to speak once the meeting date is confirmed.
