Arranging an inspection

Any foreign national (visa applicant) who is being sponsored by a person to stay in the district can arrange for a Private Sector Housing Officer to carry out the inspection of the accommodation where they and their family will be staying.

How much does it cost?

There is a £161.00 (inc VAT) fee for this inspection. The fee must be paid upon request for the inspection.

What happens next?

Once the inspection has been carried out, the applicant's sponsor will receive a letter from the Private Sector Housing Officer detailing the suitability of the accommodation.

If deficiencies are found during the inspection, these will be drawn to the attention of the owner of the property concerned and a letter stating that the accommodation is satisfactory may not be given until the deficiencies are remedied.
