- Your unused or out of date medicine can be disposed of correctly at your local pharmacy. Empty medicine bottles can be put in the recycling bin (purple lid/box). It's important that out of date medicine is disposed of correctly, as putting it in your usual waste bin can result in risk of accidental use or chemicals leaking into the soil at landfill.
