The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) is a new scheme funded by the UK government.
In Kent, it will be used to help residents who are:
- struggling with money
- dealing with a sudden change in their life.
We understand that hard times can happen to anyone. The support is here to help you get through a crisis with care and understanding, and to focus on what matters most to you.
The CRF is meant to offer short-term help, including support to help you feel more stable in the future with your money. This includes early advice and working with local organisations, to help you get the right help at the right time and reduce the risk of future worries.
If you are experiencing a financial crisis, Kent County Council (KCC) can help with Crisis payments (where appropriate) to help with essential costs if you face a serious financial shock. This could include redundancy, bereavement, domestic abuse, or fire or flood damage to your property.

Folkestone and Hythe Council can help with longer term financial care and resilience.
We are currently offering help in the home with:
- Carpets and flooring
- Boiler replacements and boiler servicing,
- Heating oil and LPG
- Windows
- Smaller energy efficient items such as dehumidifiers and heated airers
We are also offering personal help with:
- Children’s winter/school clothing
- Exceptional costs such as prescriptions, essential dentistry, glasses and help with hearing.
- Food pantry memberships
Purpose of the scheme
To provide financial resilience assistance to low-income households in the Folkestone and Hythe District. Read our Crisis and Resilience Policy (PDF, 318KB)
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for support, applicants must:
- Be aged 16 or over
- Be permanently living within the Folkestone and Hythe District.
- Be in receipt of means-tested benefits or have a total household income of £33,000 or less per year.
- For heating oil help, use heating oil as the main source of heating and/or hot water
- Be unable to afford help requested or have savings less than £1000
Evidence Requirements
Applicants may be asked to provide:
Proof of financial circumstances, such as:
- Bank statements from the last 3 months
- Payslips from the last 3 months
- Evidence of benefits received
Proof of identity and address, such as:
- National Insurance number and a bank statement
- Council tax bill or utility bill
Proof of heating oil use, such as:
- A recent invoice or delivery receipt
- Bank statement showing payment to a heating oil supplier
- Tenancy agreement confirming oil-based heating
Award
Where eligibility and evidence requirements are met, eligible residents will receive an Award. This could be in the form of vouchers or direct payments to customers/suppliers
How to Apply
Applications are made online but if you need help to apply, please send your details to support@folkestone-hythe.gov.uk and we'll call or email you to discuss your needs. Please can you include your account number, first line of address and your preferred method of contact in your email.
If you are already working with a local support agency, support worker or charity, they might be able to help you to apply. Ask the group leader or support worker you already have a relationship with to see if they can help you apply.

Demand for schemes of this type have previously been extremely high so please allow us 28 days to process your application before contacting the council.
