Community workers and volunteers helping residents across the district will be brought together under one roof at a special event in Folkestone later this summer.

Focusing on physical and mental health, welfare, housing, safety, and more – it takes place on Wednesday 2 July at Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone (CT20 2DZ) between 10am and 3pm.

Organised by Folkestone & Hythe District Council, the free public wellness event aims to make it easier for residents to seek help and support from the council’s community safety, environmental enforcement and welfare benefits teams – as well as local agencies including the Rainbow Centre, Kent Coast Volunteering, NHS, Age UK, Kent County Council and many more.

Cllr Mike Blakemore, Cabinet Member for Community and Collaboration, said: “Rising bills, physical and mental health problems all bring their pressures. This event will provide practical face-to-face support and advice, as well as connecting residents with organisations they can turn to when they need them.

“No appointments are necessary, just pop in and speak with those there to see what help is available.”

The NHS Public Health bus and Iris Mobile Sight Centre will also be parked outside the event for attendees to visit for a check up on a variety of health-related concerns.

There will also be guest speakers in attendance from agencies including Al-Anon, Wave Community Bank and AnyTek.
