Five of the district's most beloved parks and green spaces will proudly fly the Green Flag yet again after retaining the prestigious status.

Kingsnorth Gardens, the Lower Leas Coastal ParkRadnor Park and the Royal Military Canal have all been recognised with this illustrious award for 2025/26.

Brockhill Country Park in Saltwood, managed by Kent County Council, was also named in this year’s list.

The Green Flag Award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces which display the highest environmental standards, are beautifully maintained and have excellent visitor facilities.

A whole host of sites enjoyed by residents and visitors are lovingly managed by Folkestone & Hythe District Council's hard-working grounds maintenance and property teams all year round.

Cllr Connor McConville, Cabinet Member for Assets and Local Government Reorganisation, said: “Our district is home to such beautiful public spaces and parks and our staff work exceptionally hard to keep them maintained to a high, award-winning standard.

"We’re incredibly proud to retain Green Flag status at four of our sites.”

Council leader, Jim Martin added: “Now, at the peak of summer – it’s the perfect time to enjoy a visit one of these wonderful spaces.”

Over the last year, a £750,000 budget was set for the Lower Leas Coastal Park fun zone project which will see a major refurbishment to the district’s flagship play area.

Radnor Park continues to hold events and community get-togethers including a junior parkrun and dogs show, as well as welcoming the new operators of the Radnor Park Tea Room.

Close to Folkestone West Railway Station, Kingsnorth Gardens (where the council is supported by a volunteer group 'Friends of Kingsnorth Gardens') is the perfect garden oasis to welcome new visitors to the town.

Hythe Boat Hire offers seasonal row boating on the Royal Military Canal with support from the council’s routine barge clearing efforts to remove excess debris, litter and foliage.

The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.

Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said: “Congratulations to everyone involved who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the high standards required for the Green Flag Award are achieved.

“Quality parks and green spaces like the ones found in Folkestone and Hythe make the country a heathier place to live and work in, and a stronger place in which to invest.

“Crucially, the areas listed are vital green spaces for communities in the district to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis are free and a safe space for families to socialise. They also provide important opportunities for local people and visitors to reap the physical and mental health benefits of green spaces.”
