People wanting to rent a beach hut at a new Romney Marsh location can register their interest next month.
The Coast Drive coastal hub project at Greatstone will deliver a new café with a training room, water sports and changing facilities, and public toilets – including a Changing Places unit – once work is completed later this year.
At the heart of the scheme are 93 brand new wooden huts, each with a pitched felt roof, a veranda and painted finish.
Registering an interest will mean joining a waiting list, capped at 200 applicants. It will open on Folkestone & Hythe District Council’s website at 10am on Wednesday 10 September 2025.
Those unable to register their interest online can call 01303 853000 for further guidance once the waiting list is open.
Beach huts will then be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and up to 85% will be allocated to those living in the district. The first year’s annual rent is £1,470 plus VAT.
Cllr Connor McConville, Cabinet Member for Assets and Local Government Reorganisation, said: “There is a real buzz about the Coast Drive project, so we anticipate there will be significant interest in renting the beach huts.
“This scheme will provide a major boost to the local tourism economy and help actively support and promote the Romney Marsh for years to come.”
More information about the letting terms, including lease term and rent, can be found on the council’s website.
