New temporary bus stops will be in operation in Middelburg Square from 21 September following the closure of Folkestone Bus Station.
As part of the Folkestone – A Brighter Future project, Bouverie Square will be returned to its former use as a public garden space and a new linear bus station created along Middelburg Square.
The ambitious scheme will provide a huge boost to the regeneration of Folkestone town centre once finished and - in terms of progress - a quarter of the £22m development is already complete.
In the meantime, new temporary stops will operate from Middelburg Square. National Express and other coach services have relocated to the bus stop at the back of Sainsbury's on Bouverie Road West.
Stagecoach has developed maps, a dedicated webpage and posters with details of all temporary stops. Company employees will also be present on the ground to help guide customers through the transition.
The new linear layout of the bus station will be safer for pedestrians, while the completed scheme will offer real-time digital information on bus arrival times and new shelters with livings roofs.
