Folkestone & Hythe District Council has been again awarded for its work in supporting its most vulnerable residents.

Its council tax, benefits and welfare team won the Excellence in Social Inclusion category at the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation’s national awards ceremony last week.

The award recognises “exemplary delivery” of social inclusion policies improving the life of those experiencing the impact of poverty and deprivation whilst reflecting on the current challenges facing communities”.

Cllr Tim Prater, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance, said: “Though I’m not surprised, I must say the team’s effort to support the most vulnerable amongst us is something that never ceases to amaze me.

“I’m proud the services we make available within our community are not only there for those who need it but are indeed of an award-winning standard.”

This is the second year in a row the council has been awarded this title with previously being recognised as Revenue and Benefits and/or Welfare Reform Team of the Year previously – with this year being listed as a finalist in the District category.
