The Edwardian section of the Folca building in Folkestone has gone on the market.

The freehold of the c.26,963 square foot space, known as Folca 1, is for sale with marketing agents Avison Young. Sited in a prime town centre location, the building could be suitable for a variety of uses – subject to planning permission.

Folca 1 is currently detached from Folca 2 (the Art Deco section of the building) on the first and second floors. The connection between the two on the ground and basement levels will be separated by the council early next year prior to sale.

Cllr James Butcher, Cabinet Member for the District Economy, said: “The regeneration of the Folca building and the Folkestone – A Brighter Future project will positively transform the town centre. We will continue to redevelop Folca 2 and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for the Edwardian part of the building too.”

Folca 2 is being developed with £2.2m from the £22m part-government funded Folkestone – A Brighter Future project. It is also set to secure carbon reduction benefits thanks to a £1.4m grant from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.

A full business case for the future of Folca 2 and a final set of recommendations with the preferred occupation strategy will be presented to councillors early next year.
