Folkestone & Hythe District Council is leading a community safety event to help residents protect themselves and their families against scams.

Spot the Scam is on Friday 19 June 2026, from 10.30am to 3pm, at Age UK, Sandford House, Stade Street, Hythe, Kent, CT21 6BD.

This has been organised by the council’s community safety team who will be attending with representatives from Kent Police, Neighbourhood Watch, Digital Kent, Wave Community Bank, Ashford Mediation Service and Refer Kent. NatWest Bank will also be delivering a talk at 1pm on how to recognise and avoid common scams.

The event will offer practical advice and support for anyone who wants to learn more about how to recognise scams and protect their personal information from scammers.

Guidance will be offered for residents concerned that a family member, friend or neighbour may be at risk of falling victim to online and in person scams.

Councillor Mike Blakemore, Folkestone & Hythe District Council Cabinet Member for Community and Collaboration, said “Scams can affect anyone, and they can have a serious impact on people’s finances, confidence and wellbeing.

“This event is an opportunity for residents to access clear, practical advice on how to recognise the warning signs, protect their personal information and know where to turn for help.”
