A 13-year-old from Littlestone has put his design talents to work encouraging the district’s residents and visitors to put their litter in the bin.
Dylan’s bright, eye-catching design impressed judges and is now being displayed on waste collection vehicles across the Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh district
The teenager was presented with a £50 Love2Shop voucher at a prize-giving ceremony held at Folkestone Household Waste Recycling Centre on 16 July.
Runners up Frankie, 12, from Folkestone, and Chester, 7, from Dymchurch, have also each received a £25 Love2Shop voucher for their entries.
Folkestone & Hythe District Council ran the competition with its recycling and waste partner Veolia as part of this year’s Great British Spring Clean campaign.
Competition winner Dylan was delighted to see his winning design displayed on a waste collection vehicle for the first time. On receiving his prize, he said: “I'm pleased with how it turned out and happy.”
Cllr Jeremy Speakman – Cabinet Member for Waste and Street cleansing and Corporate Health & Safety – said: “Dylan’s colourful design really stood out and perfectly captures the message behind this campaign — inspiring residents and visitors to take pride in our beautiful district and keep it clean for everyone to enjoy.
