URS (a company that later became AECOM) submitted a proposal in response to Folkestone & Hythe District Council's invitation to quote for services relating to the potential for land in the vicinity of the M20 Motorway Junction 11 to be developed for high quality employment purposes.

Report C/14/38 was approved by Cabinet on 5 November 2014. The report asked for a virement of £100,000 from the net under spend to fund work during 2014/15 and 2015/16 to examine the rationale and potential scope of economic development related activities within the vicinity of Junction 11 of the M20.

BBP undertook a property market review and commissioned Tibbalds to produce an outline masterplan exploring the potential for the area in and around Junction 11 of the M20 - focusing on employment opportunities in the racecourse area bounded by the A20 and the High Speed 1 railway line.

Folkestone & Hythe District Council submitted a draft Core Strategy to the Planning Inspectorate for Examination on 31 January 2012 including documents that relate to a draft policy for the redevelopment of the racecourse funded by up to 820 dwellings.
After the initial public hearings and prior to adoption of the Plan, we withdrew the policy contained in the draft plan relating to the proposed racecourse redevelopment.
