Update on Folkestone Library

The district council received notice on 7 March 2025 from the landowners, Kent County Council, that they wish to sell the site. On 14 April 2025, the district council received an expression of interest in buying the library from an organisation which qualifies as a community interest group under the regulations. This triggered a moratorium (restricted) period of six months during which the building could not be sold, other than to a community group. This period ended on 7 September 2025. Following the close of the moratorium (restricted) period, the owners are now free to sell the building to whoever they choose.

Update on Folkestone Sports Centre

Folkestone Sports Centre was removed from the list of assets of community value on 21 July 2025, following confirmation that the site has been sold to The Sport Trust, a registered charity.
