Shorncliffe, Folkestone
More than 40 new affordable homes were acquired by Folkestone & Hythe District Council in October 2024.
The purchase of 44 properties at Risborough Barracks was secured with the planning consent obtained for the site in Shorncliffe and funded by the council’s Housing Revenue Account.
The homes will be let to applicants on the council’s housing list through Kent Homechoice once they are completed. A mixture of properties for affordable rent and shared ownership will be made available.
Boundary Road, Hythe
New affordable homes and those for shared ownership are due to be built on the former Smiths medical site as part of the Sutherland Park development.
The 20 flats will be let to tenants on the council’s housing list at affordable rents and the six new houses will be available for shared ownership.
The homes are due to be built by Roddy Homes in 2026 and will be 100% fossil-free with air source heat pumps and solar panels.
Other planned acquisitions to increase the council’s housing stock are in the pipeline.
