Anti-social behaviour policy consultation 2024

We are currently working on a new Anti- Social Behaviour Policy.  This page will give you a bit more information, and a link to the consultation survey.

What is a Policy for?

The policy will set out – in general terms – the Housing Team’s approach to responding to reports of anti-social behaviour.  It is designed to be a public document and available to tenants, leaseholders and other partners we work with in responding to reports of anti-social behaviour.

Why do we need an anti-social behaviour Policy?

  • We need one for 3 main reasons. So that the public, tenants, councillors and other partners can see our general approach to anti-social behaviour including what we can and cannot do, and our service commitments.
  • So that staff have a framework to work within.
  • So that tenants can hold staff to account – by measuring if what our policy says reflects what we actually do.

What is in the Policy?

The policy covers key areas such as

  • What sort of service a tenant can expect if they report anti-social behaviour.
  • When we will or will not get involved.
  • How we assess the severity/priority of a report.
  • How quickly we will try to respond.
  • How we will support victims
  • What we expect of people reporting anti-social behaviour.
  • What legal or other powers we will use.
  • How we will work with other agencies i.e. the Police.

What difference will it make?

  • A clear statement on our approach and our service commitments
  • Accountability
  • Consistency – all staff will be working to the same policy.
