Environmental crime officer
We’re pleased to announce a new specialist role within the team. Shaun Staveley has been promoted to Environmental Crime Officer.
This role involves working closely with both Environmental Enforcement Officers and the Environmental Protection team. It is a hybrid position focused on investigating complex cases, including:
- Fly-tipping incidents
- Commercial waste issues
- Burning waste that produces dark smoke
- Duty of care breaches
- Contaminated land cases
- Nuisance complaints such as noise, light, dust, air quality, and odour
The Environmental Crime Officer role acts as a vital link between teams, enabling us to proactively tackle environmental crime across the district. By bringing together our patrol teams and Environmental Protection specialists, we can deliver a more coordinated and effective approach.
