The Folkestone – A Brighter Future scheme is more than a third complete with works planned to finish in Summer 2026.

Any regeneration project of this scale will inevitably cause disruption, and we are grateful to residents and businesses for bearing with us as we shape Folkestone town centre into a safer, greener and more welcoming place to spend time. Full details of the scheme are available on our dedicated FABF pages where you can also sign up for a newsletter from our contractors Jackson Civil Engineering for monthly updates.

Below is a summary of the most recent project changes:

Middelburg Square overnight closures

Overnight closures will be in place at the entrance/exit to the ASDA car park on Middelburg Square. This will only affect the entrance/exit to the ASDA car park and not involve closing surrounding roads. These works will occur between 10:30pm – 5:00am and start tonight (Tuesday) and finish on Friday.

These overnight closures are necessary to facilitate carriageway works as Jackson Civil Engineering (JCE) install new pipes, kerbs, asphalt, flag paving, footway covers and soil as part of the FABF scheme.

Temporary bus stop changes

The F6 bus stop has now been temporarily moved to directly outside Lidl and will remain at this stop until May 2026 while works are ongoing nearby.
