Residents who regularly use Folkestone & Hythe District Council car parks are being encouraged to apply for a useful permit.

The newly named Residents’ Discount Parking Permit enables residents to park once a day for up to three hours in a long-stay council car park, and up to two hours in short-stay car parks.

Eligible car parks include Harbourside in Folkestone, Dymchurch Central, the Jolly Fisherman car park in Greatstone and Battery Point at Hythe, plus many more.

The full list can be found on the council website.

Cllr Polly Blakemore, Cabinet Member for Transport, Regulatory Services and Building Control said: “The new name will better highlight the fact that, for residents who regularly use council car parks, the Residents' Discount Parking Permit is fantastic value for money.”

The annual cost for the Residents’ Discount Parking Permit is £80 with the alternative three-month permit at £20.

Once an application has been authorised, the applicant will be sent a parking clock which can used to set your time of arrival and be displayed inside your windscreen.

A full breakdown of information, costs and details on how to apply for the permit can be found on the council website.
