On-street parking permits

General restrictions

  • Double yellow lines prevent parking or waiting for 24 hours a day
  • Single yellow lines prevent parking for part of the day. Look out for signs providing specific information of when these rules are in place
  • Other restrictions can limit the length of time a vehicle can be parked or restrict usage to such as loading only or for blue badge holders

Please always check signage to ensure that you are parked correctly.

On-street permits

Some areas in the district are 'controlled zones', where parking is for permit holders only, you have to pay to park, or you can only stay for a limited time. The hours and rates for on-street parking are different depending on the area, so check when you park.

If you live or have a business in a controlled zone, you can get a parking permit to park there for a year.

Electric vehicle charging points

We're exploring the demand for electric vehicle charging points across Folkestone & Hythe. This will help us to plan future charging locations.

If you own, or are thinking about buying an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid, you can suggest a location for an on-street charging point.
